CONTEXT

Gaza is facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, with famine declared in August 2025 and more than half a million people still trapped in famine conditions. Over 50,000 children are acutely malnourished, disease is spreading as water and sanitation systems lie in ruins, and nearly two million people have been displaced into flooded, overcrowded shelters. While a fragile ceasefire has allowed limited aid to enter, critical supplies continue to be blocked. In the first weeks of the conflict, Ummah Care Foundation worked alongside the Egyptian Red Crescent to deliver urgent medical supplies to hospitals in Gaza, moving life-saving aid across the Rafah border at a time when access was extremely limited. Amid today’s immense barriers, UCF continues to deliver urgent, life-saving support. Since the early days of the war, we have sent multiple aid trucks into Gaza and have additional vehicles ready in Jordan awaiting access. We have also established medical facilities in Cairo to treat the injured, undocumented, and most vulnerable — ensuring care reaches those who need it most.

WHAT WE ARE DOING

Ummah Care Foundation is committed to delivering vital relief into Gaza, where families are enduring extreme shortages of food, clean water, and medical care. Since 2023, we have sent more than 30 trucks carrying medical equipment, baby food, blankets, tents, clothing, and essential non-perishables—partnering with Al Azhar Charity and the Jordanian Hashemite Charity. Thirteen trucks successfully entered Gaza in August 2024, while four more remain on standby in Jordan after multiple unsuccessful clearance attempts. Inside Gaza, our local team distributes every item directly to the hardest-hit communities. We also run a fully equipped medical facility in Cairo, providing treatment, psychological support, and diagnostics – including MRI, CT, and ultrasound – to injured and undocumented people who have nowhere else to turn.

ESSENTIAL MEDICAL CARE

Ummah Care Foundation is delivering essential, free medical services to Palestinian refugees through our dedicated clinic in Maadi, Cairo. Fully operational for five months – and supported by UCF for the past two – our centre offers comprehensive, high-quality healthcare at no cost to patients. We treat between 400–600 individuals every month, covering a full spectrum of medical needs: chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, paediatric conditions from common infections to malnutrition, gynaecological cases, war-related orthopaedic injuries requiring casts and immobilisation, and wound infections that need close monitoring and antibiotics. Every visit includes free medication, and when required, free investigations and minor procedures. UCF’s Maadi centre fills a critical gap, delivering dignified, accessible healthcare to families who lack the financial means to manage their medical needs. Our mission is simple: ensure that no Palestinian refugee is denied care because of cost.

GETTING AID INTO GAZA

Moving essential relief into Gaza has become increasingly urgent as access tightens and humanitarian needs soar. Repeated denials, delays, and obstacles at crossings have left vital supplies stalled for months, while families continue to face severe shortages of food, clean water, and medical care. Despite these challenges, Ummah Care Foundation has remained steadfast. Since 2023, we have sent more than 30 aid trucks—six carrying £750,000 worth of medical equipment, 17 delivering baby food, blankets, tents, and clothing, and 13 trucks transporting water, medical supplies, and non-perishables in partnership with Al Azhar Charity. On 10 August 2024, thirteen trucks finally entered Gaza after multiple failed attempts, while four additional trucks with the Jordanian Hashemite Charity remain on standby. Our teams in Gaza receive and distribute every delivery directly to the communities in greatest need, ensuring that nothing is wasted.
