CONTEXT
Pakistan faces a complex web of challenges where flooding, poverty, unsafe water, and disrupted education are deeply intertwined. Recurrent climate disasters — like the devastating 2022 floods — have destroyed homes, schools, and water systems, leaving millions without safe drinking water or access to learning. Contaminated water sources continue to fuel disease and malnutrition, while damaged infrastructure and displacement have forced countless children out of school. In this context, Ummah Care Foundation (UCF) is working to restore hope by improving access to clean, safe drinking water and supporting education for children in flood-affected communities. Through community-driven initiatives, UCF is helping families rebuild their lives with dignity, ensuring that children can learn, grow, and thrive in healthier, more resilient environments.

WHAT WE ARE DOING
At Ummah Care Foundation (UCF), we are building brighter futures in Pakistan by addressing the roots of poverty through education, empowerment, and clean water access. In Azad Kashmir, we’ve established a school for children from low-income families, providing everything they need to succeed — from quality education, textbooks, and school supplies to safe transport and full support through university. Beyond the classroom, UCF helps families become self-reliant by supporting small business initiatives, such as community-run roti stalls that provide affordable food and sustainable livelihoods. At the same time, our Clean Water Projects are transforming lives by installing water filtration plants and hand pumps in water-scarce villages, ensuring families have safe drinking water near their homes. Each project is locally managed, empowering communities to take charge of their future. With your support, we’re not just providing aid — we’re helping communities rise, rebuild, and thrive with dignity.

EDUCATING CHILDREN
Founded in 2016 in the heart of Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, the UCF Education System is a lifeline for orphaned and underprivileged children — those with one or no parent —providing completely free, high-quality education. What began with just 27 children has now grown into a thriving community of young learners, with 48 students currently enrolled and new admissions on the way. UCF follows an international curriculum based on both British and Pakistani education systems, ensuring students can seamlessly transition into regional schools or higher education. Beyond academics, every child receives a full uniform, school bag, textbooks, stationery, and transportation if needed — removing every barrier to learning.
At UCF, education extends far beyond the classroom. Students enjoy access to a sports ground for football, badminton, and volleyball, are served healthy breakfast and lunch daily, and take part in educational trips twice a year. Each Eid, children receive special gifts — reminders that they are loved and valued. The Foundation proudly supports its graduates as they move on to college, covering all educational expenses, from admission and tuition fees to uniforms, books, and travel costs.
CLEAN WATER PROJECTS
In many remote villages of Azad Kashmir, access to safe drinking water remains a daily challenge, putting children, the elderly, and entire communities at serious risk of waterborne illnesses. Ummah Care Foundation (UCF) is transforming lives through its Clean Water Projects, installing water filtration plants and hand pumps in underserved communities to provide families with safe, accessible drinking water right in their neighbourhoods. Each project is community-managed, ensuring long-term sustainability while dramatically improving health, reducing disease, and enhancing quality of life. With continued support, UCF is committed to expanding this vital work, bringing clean water to the most neglected and water-deprived regions of Azad Kashmir.

INCOME GENERATING INITIATIVES
To combat hunger and empower communities, Ummah Care Foundation (UCF) has launched innovative small business initiatives that combine compassion with sustainability. Through our Sasti Roti Junctions, we provide warm, nutritious rotis for just Rs. 8, ensuring that the poorest families, daily wage earners, and the elderly can enjoy a dignified meal every day. Alongside this, our Fruit Cart (Carry) Project transforms lives by donating fully stocked fruit stalls to unemployed individuals, giving them the tools to earn a living and support their families. By turning aid into opportunity, these projects not only feed the hungry but also help people rebuild their livelihoods with independence, pride, and purpose — creating lasting change across communities in Pakistan.
INVESTING IN WOMEN’S FUTURES
UCF has launched a women’s empowerment project in Mirpur, Pakistan, creating a safe space where women can learn sewing, tailoring, and business skills to build livelihoods and independence. In a country where entrenched gender inequality and patriarchal traditions restrict many women from working or moving freely outside the home, such opportunities are rare and transformative. Pakistan has one of the lowest female labour force participation rates in South Asia, and many women lack access to training or education that could help them earn an income. Through its “women teaching women” approach, UCF’s initiative not only equips participants with practical skills but also fosters confidence, solidarity, and hope. The programme empowers women to start their own small businesses, support their families, and challenge long-standing barriers—helping them take vital steps toward economic equality and a more just future.
